Heartbreaking photographs of dead Palestinian children were splattered across social media today, calling attention to the on-going tragedy in Gaza, as Israel and Hamas continue to exchange fire.
Today, the fifth day since Israel started bombing Gaza around the clock, an Israeli missile hit a house in Gaza City, killing at least 10 civilians, including five children. Online, this tragedy has drawn condemnation from netizens.
From Gaza, Rana tweets:
@RanaGaza: 9 people were killed from the Al-Dalou family 5 of which are children in a direct Israeli raid on the family's house. #Gaza #AlDaluMassacre
Rezaa Kasu, an online journalist with Al Jazeera, adds:
@rezakasu: #Gaza medics: More than 660 people wounded including /224 children /113 women & 50 elderly people
CNN's reporter Arwa Damon, who is in Gaza, reports:
@arwaCNN: #gaza health minister says 65ppl killed in #gaza since weds, 50% of them women & children
In another tweet, she explains:
@arwaCNN: arrived in #gaza…went 2 scene of airstrike, we saw 2 children, a 2 month old baby & old lady body pulled from rubble…
And Jenan Moussa explains:
@jenanmoussa: Everyone should have moral decency to condemn this. At least 10 people – five of them children – killed on attack on house in #Gaza.
Rana from Gaza quotes an Israeli news headline and retorts:
@RanaGaza: Israel: “We are trying to avoid harming civilians.” That's why more than 24 children have been killed since Wed. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4307940,00.html … #Gaza
Iyad El-Baghdadi adds:
@iyad_elbaghdadi: A favorite line now is that Hamas is using children as human shields. Which apparently makes it alright to drop bombs on them? #Gaza #Israel
And he continues:
@iyad_elbaghdadi: If you want to see terrorism, this is terrorism. Bombing a family home full of children in order to kill a single person. #Gaza #Israel
Meanwhile, Rob Maquire, from Vancouver, Canada, calls out a news outlet for changing a Gaza story's headline:
@RobMaquire: I wonder why @CBCNews quickly changed their headline from “children killed” to “death toll rises in Gaza”. Is reality too uncomfortable?
