I realized that once you find yourself at [the Moscow airport] Domodedovo, you start feeling like you are [crap]. And you feel so not because you are actually [crap], but because the personnel at the airport treat you this way.
In an emotional post, blogger Diana Rahmanova writes [ru] about the mistreatment of Central Asians at the Moscow airport. Millions of migrant workers from Central Asia travel to Russia every year, with many of them arriving at the Domodedovo airport.
It is not true.
It is absolutely true. Just had a recent encounter with these people. Me, a white guy, treated with all respect. Next, my wife, a Central Asian, treated like a piece of shit. Russian people are some of the worst racists in the world. Period.
Eh, really? Everyone is treated like crap at Moscow airports… unless you look “rich”
If you ‘look’ rich, you most likely fly first class or business class – and the personnel at Domodedovo know how to treat this type of passengers.
Very interesting phenomenon. Once Central Asia was under influence of the USSR. After the breakup of the USSR, the old masters, Russians treat the Central Asians like shit. That is disgraceful.
At least, England, the centre of the British empire institutionalise human right and respect for the former subject races fo Asia and Africa, although privately the English, as individuals, harbour racial prejudice.
England is street ahead of Russia. Many Asians are millionaires in England.
Russia should learn from England.
There are Russian oligarchs with Central Asian origin… Russians are not more racist than anyone else, contrary to what mister Steven claims, they just don’t hide it, not having any history of PC culture. And you’re right that when it comes to racism Russia is now where Britain, USA were maybe in the 1950-1960
In Sheremetievo, they spoke English to me, and addressed “Madam” right until the moment they saw my passport XD
True and sad – but if the same Central Asians are treated ‘like crap’ in their home countries – what else should they expect in Russia?
