Hi Neha & Rebecca: Interesting & well moderated topic. Keep it up! I will have a look at Bhutan wiki page later.

Navin, you don’t sound like an Indian Diplomat because you don’t exhibit any sign of diplomacy calibre in your discussion. I don’t think you have understood BHUTAN. Please come and visit Bhutan, work and live in Bhutan. You will know what Bhutan and its people are all about. For your information, Bhutan can survive without Indian help if that is to be the case. Please note that Bhutan had survived independently even before mighty Indians were slaughtered and suffered under British regime. What you as “diplomat” should learn and appreciate is the FRIENDSHIP that exist between our two countries. It is the perfect example to the rest of the world on how two countries (David & Goliath) can coexist in peace and harmony, and how much we Bhutanese treasure the friendship of Indian people. But if you want to be secluded, it is your problem. STOP disguising and shaming Indian Diplomats.

For Sangay Phuntsho: I think Neha got your mouth shut. You deserve it anyway! There was no rationale in your argument whatsoever.

For kanchoo bhutani: I am sorry. Your arguments are all baseless and you don’t seem to have any clue about Bhutan. They are bound to be baseless unless you come and live in Bhutan for couple of years Or you should be bright enough to understand what Bhutan is all about.

    For all:

Let’s not argue for the sake of arguing. I am not trying to be patriotic or 100% pro-Bhutanese. I have spent four years in the UK as undergrad student and two years in Australia as masters student and have visited all the neighbouring countries including Nepal as a part of continuous education. I have learnt many things from these experiences.

I have found that there are lot of areas (rich and unexploited environment with virgin forest, rich flora and fauna, rich culture, rich tradition, unlimited peace, high sense of happiness, the rich spiritual happiness, human and family values, respect to life, etc) that the rest of the world can learn from Bhutan. With the world at a critical stage (presence of war, terrorism, money and economy, buildings, mines, industries, factories, deteriorating wildlife and environment, lack of fresh oxygen, etc), I feel our country should be protected, valued, and loved because it is one of the most invaluable treasures and rare gift to our mother earth. Bhutan deserves to be protected and NOT negatively criticised for banning junk TV channels or because there are people in the refugee camps. We agree Bhutan is not politically perfect but we are also aware that there are no politically perfect countries in the world as of now. We can always improve. All I want to say is, please come, see, and feel Bhutan for yourself.

    Regards

I think what Bhutan is doing with the Media is perfectly fine. I appreciate Bhutans move towards screening and banning of certain unethical, inhuman and useless TV channels. Hats Off to Bhutan. Keep it up.

Yes, I think the discussion is losing it’s essence.

All the people writing negative images about Bhutan are firstly not Bhutanese but pretending to be Bhutanese. They are out there only to critisize Bhutan without any valid reason. Therefore such statements should be censored by the website. Firstly it is a waste of time for every body. Secondly the website where such issues are published becomes the most unreliable website. It then becomes a matter of prestige of the website and future implications of its own survival in this world of competition. Whatever one may say, major part of the world knows that Bhutan is a beautiful country with pristine environment, unique tradition and culture, friendly and respectful people – a country with the greatest and most respected monarch which this century has produced. Just by writing nonsense one cannot tarnish the good image that Bhutan has already established. Few guys cannot tell lies to the whole world.

  • Whatever BHUTAN does like freedom of relgion, dress code, expression or TV is upto BHUTAN, no country in the world is perfect, so leave upto BHUTAN and you editor Navin, dont publish or crtisize any comments what people do here OK, I LOVE My King, country and people be it nepali minority, Drukpas, or any other, all are BHUTANESE!!

PLEASE delete any issues they criticise BHUTAN, Nepal, India all any coutries OK!!!

Are all the civil servants in Ministry of Home
Affairs as smart as you Kezang? We in Bhutan will do as we see fit. I think even NBC has censored Kanye West’s comment of George Bush. I think too much violence on tv negatively influences the mindset of kids. We don’t want kids running around with gun shooting each other in schools.

  • Yes mite, all are civil servants but look at US where US was attacking Iraq, the millions of Arab muslims American citizens did use the placards shouting that Bush is TERRORIST, so where is the BAN in US tell me??

  • Hello mite,
If you think that TV is bad and dont like, why on earth your GOVT did allow to air TV tell me man?? If you like the way like medivial old times, with no TV no Internet, NO news, be it, the world would be a BETTER if Bhutan keeps off eveything and keeps it as CLOSE and north Korea so that the world does not know where is BHUTAN???
