  I’m wondering about the status of women’s rugby in Iran as compared to association football (soccer). I have written about efforts of sport authorities in the country to work toward segregated seating for women and men at national football matches — “Iranian Officials Say Coed Attendance Remains Possible, Despite Sharia’ Ban” (http://www.theglobalgame.com/blog/?p=215), 30 Dec 06 — and about women’s soccer as a participatory sport.

  Is rugby another sport in which women might push against the restrictions on women under rule of the clerics?
