Born and raised in California, Lakshmi is an educator and journalist with a focus on immigration, migration, identity and the arts. She has worked with newspapers, radio and magazines from Ahmedabad, India to Los Angeles, California. Writing and producing for various audiences, including Mic, Global Voices, AJ+, KQED, Fusion Media Group and The New York Times. In 2016, she co-founded Tiny World Productions to produce immersive video content. She’s been a commissioning producer on the news team at Fusion media and later guided young journalists through the Rise Up: Be Heard Fellowship program reporting on health and immigration issues in California. Lakshmi is a graduate of Pitzer College and the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. A book she co-wrote on immersive storytelling will be publishing by Routledge in the winter of 2018.
