Jamaica: Curtains for Calabash?

Diaspora blogger Geoffrey Philp is part of a group that has written an open letter to the Jamaican Prime Minister expressing disappointment over the news “that the 2009 Calabash Festival has been cancelled due to insufficient funding.”

  • This is something that I’d rather not think about. I have looked forward to Calabash ever since my first time attending in 2006. The festival gets better every single year and it is a great feeling being around people who share your passion for the written and spoken word.

    IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN.

  • It’s great news that the JA Government has restored funding. Calabash and events like it bring attention to the voices of WI writers.
