Dina Mehta on the Indian blogscene

Dina Mehta, a brilliant Indian anthropologist and blogger, just published an article on the emergence of the Indian blogosphere for online magazine Nirantar. Referencing Malcolm Gladwell's new book, “The Tipping Point”, she points to the emergence of “Connectors, Mavens and Salesmen” as evidence that Indian bloggers are emerging as a force to be reckoned with. She points to her own experiences with the Tsunami Help blog which rapidly mobilized hundreds of volunteers in the wake of the December 26th tsunami.

Dina blogs in English, but her piece was translated into Hindi for Nirantar, which calls itself the world's first Hindi-language blogzine. For those interested in brushing up their spoken Hindi, Dina points to Blognaad, a site dedicated to Hindi-language audioblogs.
