Israel-Gaza Conflict 2012

The civilian death toll is rising in the latest hostilities between Israel and the Gaza Strip. On November 10, 2012 Gaza militants fired an anti-tank missile at an IDF patrol on the Israeli side of the Gaza-Israel border. Israel responded with deadly airstrikes on Gaza, Hamas and other militant factions in Gaza fired rockets back. After a ceasefire was negotiated and rocket fire from Gaza had almost stopped, IDF drones assassinated Hamas military chief, Ahmad al-Jabari. Gaza militants responded by launching a barrage of rockets. The polarizing effect of the Israel-Palestine conflict is apparent in government responses and media coverage, and both Israelis and Palestinians take to social media when they feel misrepresented or ignored. Online citizen media on different sides of the conflict help reveal human realities of war, and sometimes also elusive political nuances to help further understanding.
