Global Voices 9/11 Retrospective: What a Difference a Day Makes

Back to Contents

On 11 September, 2001, four coordinated suicide attacks by al-Qaeda cost around 3,000 lives in the United States of America. Shock and grief echoed around the world, and soon after a new political agenda was born, ‘The War on Terror‘.

Global politics and perceptions were affected by the tragedy in many different ways. Ten years later, we look back on a selection of Global Voices posts about some of the direct and indirect consequences of 9/11 including war, anti-terror legislation, anti-Islamism and the death of Osama Bin Laden.

Special thanks to Maria Grabowski for compiling the links on this page.

What we do: Global Voices bloggers report on how citizens use the Internet and social media to make their voices heard, often translating from other languages.
