Tsigereda Brihanu – Deputy Director
Tsigereda is a fearless activist and the Deputy Director of Egna Legna Besidet. As a frontline defender she has been at the center of the fight against the oppressive kafala system from the very beginning of ELB. She supports migrant women in distress through fact-finding and case work, and she has always been one of the first people to respond when someone needs help.
With her presence on the ground she oversees ELB’s daily work, including legal support, mass repatriations and emergency assistance. Tsigereda also uses her experience and knowledge to raise awareness about the challenges MDW's face and helps empower activists in the MDW community to take action in difficult conditions.
She has also volunteered anonymously with nonprofit organizations for several years and continues to serve as a dedicated case worker.
