Rising Voices Nominated World's Best Blog

Global Voices’ citizen media outreach project, Rising Voices has been nominated for a “Best of the Blogs Award” (B.O.B.) in the category “Best Weblog”. More than 8,500 weblogs were suggested for nomination and a jury selected the final 11 in each of 16 categories. Anyone can cast their votes online...

USA: Homeland Guantanamo

A new interactive online game by human rights organization Breakthrough uses video to illustrate the injustices many documented and undocumented immigrants face in detention centers across the United States. In "Homeland Guantanamo", players assume the role of a journalist trying to get more information on real life detainee who has died in custody.

Global Voices new South Asia editor, Rezwan, from Bangladesh has been with Global Voices as a volunteer author since 2005. Memorable posts by Rezwan include a report on Twittering' an earthquake in Bangladesh, and a story of colorful but expensive Bangladeshi weddings. He replaces the illustrious Neha Viswanathan as South Asia editor.
