Shannon Kirby

Shannon is a Spanish-to-English translator, editor and occasional writer with a professional background as colorful as the semi-nomadic life she leads. While her formative education focused on literature and creative writing, Shannon’s translation and editing work has ranged wide, from nondiscrimination law, education and museum publications to investigative journalism, academic research and subtitles. She devotes a sizeable amount of her free time to volunteering. Besides Global Voices, Shannon has volunteered for the United Nations and others, covering in-depth reports on nationwide prison systems, poetry and many things in between. When she is at her part-time home, she enjoys re-establishing native plant life on the land she stewards with her community.
