I work as a Coordinating Editor at Global Voices’ Civic Media Observatory.
I am a communications professional working on the intersection of media, technology, and human rights.
I believe that now more than ever, identities and narratives are inconveniently at the center of democracies globally, making the sustainability of this government system depend on those who shape the stories. Democracies worldwide are rapidly becoming more vulnerable to the ascent of polarizing narratives that enable leaders with authoritarian tendencies to win elections and undermine human rights – all reasons to persist in advocating for the responsible development of media and technologies and to encourage a mindset for critically consuming information that recognizes the origins and patterns of narratives to fight against disinformation and authoritarian propaganda.
