Originally from Los Angeles, California, Nicole Ramsey is a PhD Candidate in the Department of African American & African Diaspora Studies at UC Berkeley. Her work deals primarily with Blackness and identity formations in Central America and the Caribbean, migration, diasporic belonging, cultural production and popular culture. Nicole’s forthcoming dissertation explores performances of blackness, gender and nationhood in Belize and the Diaspora.
