I'm Lauren, though I often go by L. I'm a writer, editor and translator from the U.S. based near Madrid, Spain. As Lingua Director, I support our community of translators to make Global Voices stories travel far and wide. I first joined GV back in 2011 as a volunteer translator and later served as Lead Sub-Editor in 2013 and News Editor from 2014 to 2018. I believe that accurate and accessible stories have the power change lives, and I've dedicated my career to this principle, whether it's meant editing news reports and long-form journalism, building databases to support human rights campaigns or translating Spanish-language literature into English.
