On International Women's Day, March 8, 2017, This is Uganda [2] ran a campaign to showcase the various faces of a Ugandan woman. Using the hashtag #SheRunsUg [3], they showcased 87 pictures that provided an insight into the way Ugandan women live their daily lives.
This is Uganda [4]is a platform of talented writers from Uganda who are determined to tell stories about Uganda and for Ugandans aimed at demystifying global stereotypes that obscure the country's story.
According to a 2014 census [5]by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, women constituted 51% of the overall national population while men constituted less than half of the total working population.
Here are some of the pictures that were showcased on Twitter to celebrate Uganda's women.
