Facebook and Its Terms of Use

On her blog, Andrea shares a very thorough report about Facebook and some terms of use often overlooked. First, she explains what those terms of use are:

(Las condiciones de servicio) te explican cuáles son las condiciones de uso del servicio, qué pueden hacer con tus datos, tus responsabilidades y las del servicio en el que te estés dando de alta.

(Terms of use) explain what the conditions to use the service are, what can they do with your data, your responsibilities and those of the service you are signing up for.

And then she mentions important aspects to consider about Facebook and these terms:

Facebook te dice que todos los contenidos que subes (fotos, vídeos etc…), son tuyos.

Lo cierto es que Facebook se atribuye una licencia de uso.

Es decir cuando subes una foto a Facebook, el servicio tiene derecho de usarla y puede mostrar tu foto de perfil o usar un vídeo que has subido.

Facebook tells you all the content you upload (photos, videos etc…) belongs to you.

The thing is Facebook assumes a license of use.

This means that when you upload a photo to Facebook, the service has the right to use it and can show your profile picture or use a video you have uploaded.
