Playing with Marbles

From Colombia, Carlos Múnera, author of Todos somos iguales blog, recalls past times, when he used to play with marbles [es], when “the stage was like a duel that confronted more than one boy”:

The positions start, the bending downs, the visual calculations and the impressive aim by the game savants, more than gifted savants, as this is a gift, a present from above. They watch, calculate, place the marble between the fingers that get wrinkle and firmly anchor and taz!, a well-aimed shot to the victim and the stronger one has his stock increased. The victims? Weak participants that reduce their moms’ wallets, who can't have a pack of marbles last more than three days.
