A new book on cyberactivism and mobilization on social networks, @ Internet e # Rua (The Internet and the Street) [pt] has been launched in Brazil.

The authors, cyber activists and scholars Fabio Malini (@fabiomalini), from the Federal University of Espírito Santo, and Henrique Antoun (@antounh), from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, sum it up:

The protests in Brazil and around the world have allowed for the confirmation of the core hypothesis of this book: street and web overlap and give rise to collaborative, direct and real-time politics. And [this] has an intrinsic relationship with the practices of peer-to-peer sharing which have been started by: the cyberactivist generations of virtual communities and discussion groups from the 1980s; the radical hacker culture of leaking code and information that enhances the free flow of information; and the networks of virtual public pages of the WWW.
