Petition Call to Ban Ivory Trade in Hong Kong

Two girls, Lucy Lan Skrine, aged 11, and Christina Seigrist, aged 8, who both live and go to school in Hong Kong, launched a petition at AVAAZ,org demanding the Hong Kong Government to destroy its entire stockpile of confiscated ivory, as a symbolic gesture to highlight the plight of tens of thousands of elephants that are being killed to supply the ivory trade.

    Sell it all legally at top dollar! This will flood the market with
    ivory and bring the demand and for it down. Allowing for elephants to
    replenish their numbers. Use the money to support
    anti poaching and elephant conservation efforts! Why is this not even
    considered!? Putting it in a display case obviously will only perpetuate
    the view of ivory being something to obtain! Destroying it will only
    make ivory more sought after and worth more money!Selling it legally on the market is the most logical answer.
