Five months after 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan was brutally murdered, [2] the main suspects Shahrukh Jatoi and Siraj Talpur, young men from powerful feudal families, were handed death sentences by a Pakistani court. Jatio flashed a smile and victory sign [3] to the cameras after hearing the sentence. They have seven days to file an appeal, which their lawyers plan to do.

Amina Ameer comments [4] on Express Tribune's Facebook page:

I hope his father's wealth doesn't prove any good for him since there's a chance for him to file an appeal within 7 days. His happy face shows that he knows he will get away easily no rule of law is made for him to abide by.

On 25 December 2012, 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan was shot dead by Siraj Talpur and Shahrukh Jatoi. Before the shooting, a small argument erupted between Shahzeb and Talpur, after one of Talpur's employees passed a lewd comment at Shahzeb’s sister. The shocking murder kickstarted a Facebook campaign “Justice for Shahzeb Khan,” which now has 160,000 likes and has been keeping the pressure on Pakistan's courts to deliver justice. It has also made Shahzeb a symbol of hope against Pakistan's powerful Feudals.
