The campaign for the liberation of Puerto Rican independence fighter Oscar López Rivera has intensified. During 32 years López Rivera has been imprisoned in the United States charged with “seditious conspiracy” and “conspiracy to escape” for which he received a 70 year sentence. He is now 70 years old. The objective of the campaign is for Barack Obama to pardon him and put a stop to an unjust incarceration. The so called home of the free has denied freedom to Puerto Rico by 114 years and to Oscar López Rivera by 32 (12 in solitary confinement) for being independentista-nacionalista. It is not a matter of justice, but humanity to free this man, sample of dignity and estoicism, rare quality among people, nowadays. I would like to be erred in my appreciation, Obama has no guts to concede what Oscar really deserves, despite his peace nobel prize, the presidential priviledge of pardon hold in hand.
Doing more than Mandela political-racist imprisonment’s time ( backed by US), this boricua will never surrender neither knee before his incarcerators. But we still want him back home, PuertoRico claims free Oscar!
