Japan: Where Does My Money Go?

A group of coders and concerned citizens have launched a Where Does My Money Go? [ja] website to explore tax spending in the city of Yokohama. With cooperation from the city, volunteers participated in a hackathon to brainstorm how to creatively showcase the city's tax spending. On the heels of Yokohama's website, Where Does My Money Go? websites were created for Chiba City, Kita-Nagoya City, Sendai City, and Fukuoka City available [all links ja] to explore online. Building websites such as these are not easy – there is no standard format for data that local governments provide, and sometimes sets are provided in PDF.
