Blogger Diana Rahmanova writes [ru] about a female student who prevented an attempt to kidnap a young girl in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Bride kidnapping, or ala kachuu, remains a common occurrence in the country.
You know what shocked me most of all? The people in the street. They were just standing there and watching, as if it was some sort of a performance.
