On September 21 2012, a peace day rally was organised demanding an end in the civil war in the north part of the country. Various volunteer groups, youths and individuals joined the demonstration. Meanwhile, the police held a press conference[my] on the same day and warned that protesters would be detained because the rally was organised without an approved license.
