On Friday, September 14, 2012 The Islamic Republic News Agency reported that “Iranians all across the country launched rallies today after Friday Prayers to protest the film insulting Prophet Mohammad.” As usual, they burned American and Israeli flags.

Meanwhile Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on Thursday demanded that the United States punish those behind “The Innocence of Muslims” an anti-Islam film blamed for sparking violent protests in the Middle East and North Africa.

One of main locations of protest was in front of the Swiss embassy in Tehran. The Swiss government, acting through its Embassy, has served as the Protecting Power of the USA in Iran since 21 May, 1980. (photo above).

Iranian bloggers shared their diverse ideas on the film and the demonstration.

No silence

Niaregh condemned [fa] the film, asking President Obama to offer his apologies to the Muslim world and stop the film. The blogger also asked the Islamic world to condemn the film and not to remain silent. The blogger says we live in a time when those who claim they are ruling the world shout human rights slogans, but ignore religious values and insult them.

Did you see the movie?

Saeed Shabani writes [fa]:

Basiji [islamic militia] sisters demonstrated in front of the Swiss embassy in Tehran. Protesters carried placards with following slogan: If Khamenei gives me a jihad order, the world's army can not stand against me. I want to know what do they mean by “world army”.

Barfaye Koohe Dena asks [fa]:

Does history repeat itself and Barack Obama follow Jimmy Carter's path? [referring to US Democratic President who lost an election to Ronald Regan in 1980] …in this post I want to say to extreme Islamists, if insults to Muslims are bad, then how is insulting other religions good for you to do?

Arman asks [fa]:

Protesters, did you see this movie? If you ask one of these protesters this question, they can not answer. Thousands die in Iran because of pollution, and many on roads because their vehicles do not meet the necessary standards, and the government does not do anything to improve the situation – yet none of you say anything.

Garbage but…

Artificial Intelligence writes:

I find the most recent movie about Muhammad distasteful, disgusting and pure garbage. Yet I believe everyone out there should create a movie making fun of Muslims, Muhammad and other Islamic notables… Heck, you should make fun of Moses, Jesus and all other prophets while you are at it. Its all disgusting but it does not deserve violent action, violent threats or fear mongering.
