Japan: Fukushima Women Gather Against Nuclear Power

Former United Nations worker Kaori Izumi called for a “Vote for Solidarity” [ja] in order to change Japan's policies around nuclear energy at a gathering of Fukushima women on August 29, 2012.

This network of women aims to support candidates running for denuclearization and to empower women. The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster happened after the major earthquake and tsunami on 11 March, 2011 (see here for Global Voices coverage).
