August 8, 2012, marks the 24th anniversary of the largest uprising in Myanmar's political history – the 1988 pro-democracy protests [1]. Although the public has had to commemorate silently without any leaders from the anti-government activist 88 generation [2] in past years, this year's anniversary is likely to involve leaders from the uprising, such as Min Ko Naing [3], Ko Ko Gyi and so on.
A Facebook page known as Myanmar Political Review [4] [my] that was created in July and gathered 1,000+ fans in few days, shared several rare photos of the 1988 uprising. Here are some of those images:

MFGhiphop shared [11] a YouTube video with two songs that reflect the memories of the 1988 uprising:
This year Myanmar President Thein Sein officially sent [12] two ministers to the monastery where a donation ceremony for the Buddhist Full Moon day of Warso was celebrated by members of the 88 Generation Students Organisation on 7 August.
The two ministers, who represent the Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Rail Transportation respectively, donated to both the monastery for the ceremony and the 88 Generation Students Organisation.
