In an open letter [1] [es, fr], the Association of Indigenous Councils of Northern Cauca (ACIN), in south western Colombia, demanded that “groups and legal and illegal armies” leave their territories, specifically the town of Toribío [2], which is routinely attacked by the FARC (Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia) [3] [es]. The indigenous destroyed army and police trenches [4], as well as a FARC camp [5] [es]. President Juan Manuel Santos was booed [6] [es] when he arrived to the town, where a council of ministers is set to be held on Wednesday, July 11.
