China: Bum Rushing The Bus

On a Baidu forum, one user has posted photos of what is apparently now a common sight surrounding certain buses in downtown Beijing's Guomao area: so many people gathered in the cold that passengers have begun climbing through windows just to get some space on the bus.

  • Scary! Word is also out on Weibo that Nanjing is still using its 1987 standard for determining whether a bus is “chao zai” (overcrowded). We recently covered this if you check tealeafnation dot com; the netizen reactions are quite clever. Seems this problem is not restricted only to Beijing/Nanjing!
