Brazil: A Book on Fraudulent Privatizations

Categories: Latin America, Brazil, Freedom of Speech, Governance, International Relations, Law, Media & Journalism, Politics

Brazilian filmmaker Jorge Furtado comments on [1] [pt] a book that he considers to be the best of 2011: “Privataria Tucana”. The title is a play with words that links piracy, privatization and toucans, the symbol of the Social Democrat Party (PSDB [2]). The book exposes policies of privatization carried out during PSDB's government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso [3] (1995-2003), considered fraudulent.
