An excellent idea. If you legalize what is already in wide distribution but tax the sale with ALL proceeds from that tax going to combat and rehabilitate the users of more addictive drugs like crack cocaine, you would cut down on petty and serious crime related to smuggling, selling and obtaining these drugs. You would also add an interesting wrinkle to Dominican tourism. Legalization might also free up the police to effectively investigate and solve real crimes like arson and attempted murder.
