Response There is no respite for the people of Karachi. The game of blood and fire is on and MQM is bidding to destroy law and order situation in Karachi. Their decision to sit on opposition benches show stubbornness of MQM to join hands with government to work for the betterment of the people of Karachi. The so-called independent media is culpable as they project the MQM as a mature political force and conveniently forget that the MQM has a deadly militant wing, which is armed with state of the art weapons. The recent bloodbath was not spontaneous but carefully planned by MQM and shows the true face of this party. In my opinion, the British government should have instituted an inquiry against Altaf Hussain in the wake of a bulky dossier prepared by Imran Khan in 2007. Unfortunately, the British government has allowed expediency to prevail on the rule of law, letting megalomaniac-inciting citizens of Karachi resort to violence, inspired by the histrionic speeches from the MQM leader. If the British government puts tabs on this man, long lasting peace may return to Karachi. The other point is that if the US withdraws its patronage of the MQM and lets the law take its course, the situation may show rapid improvement
