Cuba: Remembering History

Osmany Sánchez remembers the attacks on Cuba during the 1960s and 1970s [es], some organized and perpetrated by the groups that welcomed Reina Luisa Tamayo in Miami [es]. Reina Luisa Tamayo is the mother of Orlando Zapata, the hunger striker who died of starvation in protest against the Cuban government.

  • This “blogger” works for the Castro dictatorship. For 52 years, Cubans have fought and died in an effort to free their country from a brutal dictator. Orlando Zapata Tamayo is one of thousands who was murdered for that effort. Reina Luisa Tamayo understands that the groups welcoming her into exile have been fighting against those guilty of murdering her son and the other victims of the Castro regime. The Cuban people are united in opposition to the communist dictatorship ruling Cuba, on the island and off. Those working to perpetuate the tyranny are also guilty, a charge upheld by in other countries where dictators have been removed. Following orders is not a valid excuse to collaborate in crimes against humanity.

  • Osmany Sanchez is a Cuban government sponsored blogger/”journalist”. Thus, not only are his reports suspect for their validity, but linking to same makes that venue suspect as well.

Remembering history? As I recall there’s been only one Bay of Pigs invasion in the 60’s and what does have to do with the murder of a man whose only crime was to criticize the government of Cuba. Cuba has also perpetrated attacks on other countries with the excuse that it was helping guerrillas groups liberate themselves from imperialist oppressors. After 50 years of failed Communist ideology it is time that these apologists stop trying to discredit those who support democracy and freedom by labeling them right wingers and trying to link them to militant groups. If Cubans are militant is because there’s no other venue of change. Communism does not allow different opinions or political parties.
