On June 3, a clash between the Brazilian Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE [1]) and firefighters from Rio de Janeiro who were demonstrating against the lowest wages for their class in the country – R$ 950 [2] (approximately $600 USD) – took hundreds to the prison.
