France, Syria: Syria's Ambassador To France Resigns

Syria's ambassador to France, Mrs Lamia Chakkour, has announced  her resignation during a live audio interview with France24 [fr] TV chanel in Paris, today. “I cannot support this cycle of violence […] and ignore that protesters have been killed, that families live in grief” she said. “I invite President Bachar al-Assad to form a new government with the opposition leaders”. See video of her interview here [fr].

Update: On June 8, 2011, French TV channel BFM news released a video interview [fr] of Mrs Chakkour denying that she had resigned and stating that she would sue France24.

  • She’s already denied the alleged resignation. France 24 proved to be another pathetic propaganda outlet.

  • She went on Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya denying the claim. Looks like France 24 was hoaxed.
