Brazil/Palestine: Football Player Removed from Facebook and National Team

The blog Palestinian Field Negro denounces that the Facebook account of the Brazilian football player from Real Madrid (Spain), Marcelo Vieira, has been deleted due to his support of the Palestinian cause. Later on Marcelo was also cut from the Brazilian national team [pt].

  • That’s a stretch to suggest that he was left off the squad because of the Facebook deletion controversy. (btw, Brasil could potentially field 4-5 very competitive squads with the talented players to choose from)

    • The coincidence, or maybe the timing, made a few bloggers ask themselves if it wasn’t realted somehow… the deletion of the FB profile itself is an absurd, the rest is up to further investigation…

  • Yes, the FB thing is absurd, but this update and headline suggest that the two are definitely related. I’m sure that there are more bloggers who would say that the two are totally unrelated than there are more bloggers who believe in a conspiracy theory. Brasil isn’t 5-time champions because it pays attention to something so unrelated to what happens on the field.

    • I haven’t seen so far ANY post saying the opposite to what’s here… That’s why the roundup came out this way… Up to interpretations…
