Turkey: Protests Against Internet Censorship

Vimeo user Firat Yıldız posted a short video of the May 15 rally in Istanbul's Taksim Square and Istiklal Avenue, where thousands of people gathered to protest the new internet filtering system, to be introduced in Turkey on Aug. 22. A Turkish-language site with the “Stop Censorship” movement's info and banners is here; Facebook user Zeynep Kaytancı notes on the Stop Internet Censorship in Turkey! Facebook Causes page (13,116 members so far) that the site will soon be translated into English. A Nomadic View offers a roundup of the Anglophone media coverage of the protest.
