Hi. I have a quick question. I want to clear up some confusion about how to pronounce umlaut a in a word that I am considering for a title in a recipe. The word is Ra, pronounce in English as “Raw” (the English sound “aw”). I am hoping the two dots (umlaut) above the “a” in “Ra” will serve as the “aw” sound. Am I correct? If not, what would be the right spelling to get that “aw” sound? I realize that “Ra” is not a real word; I am just looking for the pronunciation. Please help!
