Syria: Reports of Telecom Disruptions as Protests Rage

Twitter users in Syria are reporting that mobile internet telecommunications have been disrupted today, as protests continued across the country.

Furious Syrian reports:

Mobile internet and 3G net coverage is down in #Syria. The two and only cellular operators are owned by Assad's cousin Rami Makhlouf

Human rights activist Wissam Tarif notes:

Al-Assad Regime switches off communication in #Homs #Zabadani #Madaya Also in neighborhoods in #Hama #Eastern Gotta #Damascus Suburbs

And Razaniat adds:

3G USB modems cut off in Damascus, Aleppo and Banyas. #Syria #fb

Anonymous Syria confirms:

@Razaniyat A friend in #Aleppo has 3G modem, he has told me that both MTN & Syriatel don't work for him. #Syria
