Note that if you look at Facebook’s Japan numbers, they jump about 500K on the very same day (pointed out by @serkantoto). Coincidence? Mass migration?
Or perhaps the data is just too faulty to even discuss. I inquired with Social Bakers, and they say they get their data from Facebook’s own Ads tool. So they aren’t at fault here. The data has been served up by Facebook, though it looks more than a little rough as we see here.
