World: And the Best Actor Award Goes to Gaddafi!

Colin Firth may have won the Oscar for Best Actor, but it was Libyan dictator Colonel Muammar Al Gaddafi who got the most mentions.

Depending on where you are, tweeps from around the world woke up early, or stayed up late, to watch the 83rd Annual Academy Awards. Taking a break from tweeting about politics and the sweeping revolutions and protests that have taken the Arab world by storm, here is a snapshot of their reactions from Twitter:

@BorowitzReport: #Oscars Trivia: Giving an acceptance speech that is way too long is called “pulling a Gaddafi.”

@baratunde: and yes, i will be live-tweeting the #oscars tonight, because after live-tweeting #mubarak and #gaddafi, i need a damn break!

@MuslimMindNinja: I wonder what #Gaddafi would wear to the #oscars ?

@acarvin: Make Gaddafi listen to Celine Dion and it'd be all over real quick.

@j_bauer: Breaking News: Gaddafi has offered to leave Libya if the #Oscars will end immediately.

@martyalen: Overall, I think Colonel Gaddafi did a better job hosting last year in the pickup truck with his umbrella. #Oscars

@J680Anderson: Gaddafi is now planning on showing the #oscars as part of his plan to torture the protesters #lateshowwriters

@hyperlocavore: Any one else hoping #gaddafi just wanted to hang on long enough to see the #oscars ? #killyourselfalready

@DrBottle2010: And the Oscar for the worst botox goes to: Muammar el Gaddafi! Congrats! #Oscars

@oliverolyat: He's blamed the young, BBC and compared himself to HRH Elizabeth II, and now Gaddafi can now blame the Oscars for the troubles in Libya.

@RodrigoEBR: Gaddafi was right… Democracy is bad… Even Paltrow can sing at the #Oscars

@steveweinstein: Gaddafi tells his people, see we can't have democracy like America. It leads to paltrow singing #oscars

@FollowBolson: Breaking… Gaddafi just telephoned ABC to find out where to purchase a few bombs like tonight's #Oscars broadcast. #ABC

@beirutwhat: Any way we can force #gaddafi to watch the #oscars? From what twitter is telling me, sounds like he'd kill himself rather than watch.

@Chuckare: Libyan people no longer care about Gaddafi, just want the Oscars to stop. #Oscars

@Madame_Dawsha: Im not watching the Oscars but the tweets r hilarious – yall r tempting me but it would be funny if Gaddafi made an appearance #AttnMonger

@gui_nery: And the award of best drama actor goes to Gadda… Khad… Gathaf… Kadaff… Hosni Mubarak! #oscars

@rania_hafez: you know the hosting is bad when #billycrystal is trending for 3 minutes on stage #oscars

@alialsaeed: aw Colin Firth is such a nice guy. so happy for him. much deserved. #oscars

@Gsquare86: even though i haven't seen King's Speech, but i want Social Network to win #Oscars
