Friday (Feb 25) was officially announced as a ‘Day of Mourning‘ for all the martyrs who have fallen since Bahrain's Day of Wrath protests, which started on February 14th 2011.

Blogger Mahmood Al-Yousif reflects on this day of mourning through his latest post:

Let us just pause for a little while and thank them for their sacrifice. And hope that their spilt blood will not go without changing this country for the better for every single person on these islands. They died fighting to allow us to live with the most basic of human rights; to live with dignity. With respect for human, political and economic rights. For a bilateral constitution which defines the relationship between the government and the people. For equal opportunities. For transparency. And for the eradication of corruption.

I salute them and all those who have gone before them.

May they rest in peace, and may this country and its people never forget them. I hope that their names be solidly etched on the Pearl at the spiritual centre of the protests so that we never forget.

Wearing black and reading or listening to Quran are the main signs of mourning periods across the Islamic World.

Bahrain National Radio and Television observed the day of mourning by broadcasting Quran and Islamic programming.

Disgusted and frustrated from the lack of coverage to the anti government protests on Bahrain TV, many protesters wondered if they will start covering the martyrs’ march on Friday.

@BAHRAINIAC I thought it was an official mourning day announced by the gov? Where is BTV not covering the martyrs protest? #bahrain #feb14

Although not covering the entirety of the martyr's march, BTV did broadcast clips from the march during its news bulletins:

As for the martyrs’ march itself, blogger Redha Haji uploaded an album on Flickr depicting the events of the whole march, which went peacefully. It started at two separate locations (Seef Mall and Salmaniya Intersection) towards Pearl (Lulu) Roundabout.

The Bahrain Youth Initiative Facebook Page [ar], an initiative by some of Bahrain's youth to promote reconciliation and dialogue have called to visit the martyr's families and give their condolences on Saturday.
