Egypt: Reports of Police Brutality, Arrests and Live Ammuntion

More reports are emerging of arrests and police harassment and brutality, as Egyptians rise for the for the third day in a row. There are also reports of deaths but the details and exact toll remain sketchy.

Dima Al Khatib announces [2]:

DAY 3 of Egyptian Uprising: 1000 people arrested or more so far, according to independent legal sources #jan25 [3] #egypt [4]

Ahmed Abd El-Fatah tweets [5]:

أخويا نقل مصاب من ش القصر العيني لمستشفي المنيرة وهناك ضابط قبض عليه #jan25 [3]
My brother took an injured person from the Qasr Ayni to the Munira Hospital and an officer arrested him there

Shawky Ragab adds [6]:

المدون عبدالرحمن عياش اعتقل من مظاهرات المنصورة واخبار عن انه يعيش ظروف قاسيه جدا فى مقر الامن #jan25 [3]
Blogger Abdulrahman Ayyash was arrested in the Mansoura protests and there are news that he is undergoing terrible circumstances at the police headquarters

And @shmpOngO notes [7]:

They r arresting the injured protesters from hospitals #jan25 [3] #egypolice [8]

Gigi Ibrahim shares [9] those injuries in this photograph [10] and tweets:

And the Guardian‘s reporter in Cairo Jack Shenker, who was beaten and arrested alongside protesters in Cairo, files this harrowing recording [13] while locked up in the back of a security forces truck with scores of protesters.

Meanwhile, Farrah reports on the use of a “yellow chemical spray” on protesters at a protest in Ismailia. She tweets [14]:

Central forces in Ismaley-ya are currently spraying a yellow chemical
spray on protesters which makes them dizzy &lose thier balance #jan25 [3]

And Ian Lee, tweeting from a protest in Suez, writes [15]:

Rocks fill the air. Protesters charging. Suez. Reports of live rounds being used. #jan25 [3]
