Ménilmuche writes on his blog [1] [fr] about the evacuation of “La Maison des Étudiants de l’Ouest Africain” [2] [fr]. In 1950 [Colonial period], French West Africa (AOF [3]) purchased this building to house the elected West African representatives. The building became a student dormitory in the 1960's when the countries reached independence [4]. However Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal have lost interest in maintaining the building for years now [5][fr].
