Kenya's Referendum Live Updates

Kenyan citizens are voting today in a referendum on a new constitution. You can follow live updates on Kenyan websites and also get reports of incidents related to the referendum on Uchaguzi map.

Uchaguzi (“decision” in Kiswahili) is a customized version of the Ushahidi platform to monitor incidences of electoral offences, violence and even peace activities during the August 4th Constitutional Referendum vote.

Ushahidi, which means testimony in Swahili, was created to document post election that claimed more than 1,000 lives after the 2007 presidential election.

Uchaguzi has set up a Situation Room to provides live updates of the referendum as well as save as a realtime coordination point.

11:45 IIEC chairman Isaack Hassan says heavy rains caused delay of some polling stations. He affirms over 90 per cent polling stations opened in time and has called on poll officers to assist voters having difficulties with the register.
