Japan: Reflection upon the Okinawa issue

Kechak considers [ja] both the negative and the positive aspects of the Okinawa question. While, on one hand, former prime minister Hatoyama wasn't able to modify the agreement with the US, on the other hand, he managed to bring attention to the military base issue, that had been ignored for years by the past governments, the blogger says.

  • This episode shows us the vitality of democracy in Japan that is not restrained in the face of an inability to political pressure by their own promises. In many countries such as episodes leading up to the revolution, but in Japan the very democracy could recycle the lead without need of further clashes.
