Azerbaijan: Dozens reported detained at anniversary commemoration

Twitter and Facebook users, as well as local news agencies, report that dozens of youth activists were today detained in Azerbaijan as they attempted to mark the first anniversary of shootings in Baku's Oil Academy which left 12 dead. Although not related to their online activity, among those detained were at least two bloggers, Nigar Fatali and Araz Oner. Until full details are known @leylanajafli is tweeting more information from various sources.

  • Update: This info just came through on Facebook:

Leyla Najafli Araz and Nigar freed! People at Nasimi district police station were being beaten, trying to get more info. Araz and Nigar were there too, not sure if they were among those.
