China: search blocked

Several twitterers, including @williamlong @geekinmedia @aHexie @terryxxy and @mranti, confirmed the blocking of's search in major cities, such as Beijing and Shenzhen in China. According to @mranti: Google search is blocked in Beijing. Any search will trigger reset.


  • update: get GFWed because the parameter &gs_rfai= hits wall with “rfa”.

  • i just tested this in shenzhen with my VPN turned off. connection reset for searches on both and madness!

    Quick question:
    I heard that in some places in China, Google searches are filtered so certain pictures or comments about subjects referring to the, let’s say, Chinese governmetnts are not revealed…
    When you go on in, let’s say, Canada, will this filter still apply?
    Please answer!
