  • Wish Sarath fonseka good luck in the coming election. Its time for srilankan to take a deep look at the present President to my opinion running the country like Saddam Hussain style. He needs to go.

    • Suranee

I agree, Mahinda Rajapakse has ruined the country and if he stays much longer, our motherland will probably be worse off than Zimbabwe! I wish the General all the very best at the Presidential elections. He is the only hope the people of Sri lanka has to save the country from corruption, etc.

Ansa, are you silly? This president will look a dwarf when a military man with no vision of his own or a party basis become an executive president with the support of Sambanthan, Hakeem and JVP

Vote any one but not the alliance

  • Ranjiot Samarasinghe

How soon people forget the past.It is about time you got your head examined. We are having and enjoying peace which we did not have over 30 years.Sarath Fonseka was just another cog in the wheel as were the other commanders.
What we have to realise is that we had several leaders before Rajapakse who only used the war to entrench themselves in power and use the war to continue to be in power.
We will always remember the plight of both tamil, muslim and sinhalese people who faced it all, over the years.
The international community which produces arms are only interested in strengthening their economies while we suufer by selling armaments through many sources.
Outsiders can never be the deciders of our fate.
    Let that be clearly understood.
Sarath Fonseka is the common cadidate of the rejected parties who continued to suffer in the hands of the voters and cannot field a candidate from their own party.

      Ranjiot
Outsiders do care about the country. Many Sri Lankan’s have now moved over sea’s there children have married Europeans and US citizens. Sri Lanka is not it’s now insulated island anymore many people care about the well being of this once beautiful nation. But also be aware that “outsiders” as you call them are tired of ” baby sitting” such a juvinille nation. Sri Lankans are known for being smart people. All over the world we are in positions of power. We are doctors, lawyers and prefessors but for some reason Sri Lankans in Sri Lanka are incapable of running a country. We need to get someone in power who actaully cares about the counry and the well being of it’s people. Not someone who is in the job to further there own lifestyle. Sri Lanka is becoming a place that’s hard to live in. Interest rates are so high. Garbage in the street. We need someone to restore Sri Lanka to what it once was and bring it into the next century!

  • Retired General Sarath Fonseka is a puppet of the west who are hell bent on regime change, to be once again colonial masters to dictate terms on how to govern our country. He is no match for Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa who has 40 years experience in politics. Mr.Fonseka wants power and has become a change coat in changing his original belief in abolishing the executive presidency. Does he want absolute power which corrupts absolutely and become a dictator? Does he also want to start another ethnic war by joining with the TNA?

Mahinda Rajapaksha and Sarath Fonseka both should be war heros. But Mahinda’s Government ruined the country and he has not taken any action against any minister who is involving to curruptions and frauds. He is protecting them.

Other matter is that he gave maximum benefits and opperunities to his brother’s and relations even they are not suitable at all for such high positions. That is why people say Pawul Wadaya Sahodara Samagama. I think things should be changed if this is going on for another 6 years, that will be very big problem to the country.

read above and u will know the democracy of the current president

we sri lankan need a change

I wish Our general Fonseka all the best in the election. i suggest that in his speeches to the nation he should mention his symbol \hansaya\ more and more!.then it will be grilled into people’s minds. That is necessary specially when addresing the rural community.
    thank you

  • The rural community is NOT going to achieve anything from any “hansaya”. On the contrary they will lose everything IF Fonseka wins because he has already sold Sri Lanka to the TNA to have their eelam. It is common sense that all Sri Lankans should vote for Hon.Mahinda Percy Rajapaksa, if they want peace and prosperity to prevail after 30 years of hell.

    • Suranee

You’re wrong about that Laksman, for the rural community will achieve a great deal when the Hansaya comes into the power. The people of this country will be free from corruption, hatred, racism, poverty, etc when the General becomes the President. So naturally, it is common sense that all Sri Lankans vote for General Sarath Fonseka if they want peace and prosperity to prevail after 30 years of hell.

  • Does anyone know anything about the “hansaya” in Sri Lanka? No political party in Sri Lanka could put forward a formidable candidate to cotest Mr.Mahinda Rajapaksa. Mr.Ranil Wickremasinghe has been classified as a political carcass, who has lost 20 times and was afraid to lose for the 21st time. Mr.Mangala Samarasinghe is no better than Mr.Wickremasinghe as he has realised there is no political future, so they both want to get in from the back door.

Does the Sri Lankan electorate know anything about the hansaya or Sarath Fonseka? Definitely not. He is nothing but a puppet of the west until he wins this election. Ever since the LTTE terrorist war was decimated in May, Mahinda Rajapaksa increased the development work in Sri Lanka. If the eelamists and the Tamil community dream of eelam or power sharing, Sarath Fonseka will never give it because he said quote” Sri Laknka belongs to the Sinhalese and the Tamils and other communities can also live there” unquote. How can any voter trust Fonseka when he keeps changing his mind and signs agreements that he will never honour. It would be absolutely oxymoronic to vote for a man who has zero political experience to do anything beneficial to Sri Lanka. So the hansaya has to fly to cloud cookoo land with the green card on his beek.

Well said Ranjiot Samarasinghe and Laksman, i couldn’t have said it better. When will our people learn? educate your selves. I don’t know much about mahinder rajapakse but i’m eternally grateful for our president for finishing the war. I personally feel that he deserves the a second term. Ps. To all the foreign politicians who are reading this, a little bit of less western influence in our country would be much appreciated (US, UK and of course NORWAY)

    • John

To all the foreign politicians who are reading this please interfere MORE in our counrty as it is clear. Sri Lanka is not capable of running a counrty on it’s own as it has shown the national world in the past 30 years. Sri Lanka needs a babysitter and I owuld hope someone will take interest int he country long enough to make a difference, without an uneducation Sri Lankan coming and making a “statement” by setting of bombs and killing hundreds on innocent people!

      • Suranee

“When a man picks a pocket due to poverty we assault and jail him,

When men robs a nation due to greed (like the Rajapakse regime) – we make them kings and ministers, give them palaces, protection and worship them!”

You are right John, Sri Lanka is not capable of running a country on its own and now that General Sarath Fonseka lost the election which was not at all a fair one, those of us who supported him and who value democracy and humanity will have to endure another 6 years of hell under Rajapakse and his party.
